One of the largest ancient Buddhist stupas in India, the Amaravati Stupa — also known as the Mahachaitya or Great Stupa — is a UNESCO-recognised heritage monument located in Amaravathi town, roughly 35 km from Guntur city. Built in phases between the 2nd century BCE and 3rd century CE and protected by the Archaeological Survey of India, it is a must-visit for history buffs and spiritual travellers. The nearby Amaravathi Archaeological Museum showcases remarkable sculptures and relics unearthed from the site.
