Perched on the sacred Mangalagiri hill — whose name literally means 'Auspicious Hill' — this revered Vaishnavite temple is famous for the unique ritual of offering jaggery water (Panakam) directly into the open mouth of the deity. There are three Narasimha Swamy shrines on and around the hill, making it a significant pilgrimage circuit. Mangalagiri is situated about 21 km northeast of Guntur city and is easily accessible by road.
